Large serving pieces provide a place to physically gather for short moments that can be the spark needed for a more engaged and intentional connection.  As a central hub for coming and going, the shared vessel does not require a constant hold on placement.  Traditionally accompanied by smaller handheld wares designed to move with the user, allowing for a flow into and out of the space of the large vessels that act as a station where people can come and go with no commitment of time in a specific place.
