Connections is an intimate look at social spaces and our closeness to each other and the objects that influence space. We are experiencing a fundamental shift in the way we interact with others. Through the making of functional objects, I am exploring ways to promote face-to-face social interaction on different scales.

From the large gathering buffet style service to the intimacy of a single cup shared with an individual, we have opportunities to engage with one another in more intentional and meaningful ways than through social media. Each space represents a different language for interaction that is influenced by the objects that are present.

Everyone is invited to spend time with the work, sit down at the kitchen table and rearrange the pieces to better fit the shared time you envision. Pick up a mug from the wall, see how the handle and shape of the body feel in your hands. Sit and visit with someone at the café tables. Spend time with the pieces so that you begin to notice the nuances of the surfaces. Get to know the objects as you get to know those around you.
